The short version
- You can play every game without an account. Your progress is then kept only on your iPhone.
- Each game makes a random install code, which isn't linked to you. With it we count installs, plays, and ad views and taps.
- If you sign in, we keep your email address, the nickname you choose and your scores, to run the leaderboards.
- We only email you offers if you tick the box that asks for them, and you can turn that off at any time.
- We don't sell your information. The games contain no third-party tracking, analytics or advertising networks, and don't use Apple's advertising identifier.
- You can delete your account, and everything kept with it, from inside any of the games.
What we collect, and why
On your iPhone
Levels, points, streaks, coins and settings are stored on your iPhone. If you don't sign in, they stay there and are never sent to us. The games download word lists, ads, leaderboards and update notices from our server.
Install code: counting installs, plays and ads
The first time you open one of our games, it makes a random install code for that copy of the game. The game sends our server:
- When you open the game (and when you come back after 30 minutes or more): the install code, the game's name and its version. This tells us how many phones have each game and how often it's played.
- When an ad is shown or tapped: which ad, whether it was shown or tapped, and the same install code, game name and version. This tells us how many views, taps and different phones each ad gets, in each game.
The install code is random. It isn't your name, email, Apple ID or Apple's advertising identifier, we don't connect it to your account, and it is never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. Each game has its own code; deleting the game deletes it, and a reinstalled game makes a new one.
If you sign in
- Email address: to send you a one-time sign-in code and to identify your account. One account works across all Lhasa Games.
- Nickname: shown next to your scores on the public leaderboards. Your email is never shown there.
- Scores and results: for example your best AcuWords level, Point Hunt test results and Daily Meridian days, so they can appear on the leaderboards.
- Offers by email (optional): if you tick “Email me Lhasa OMS offers”, we record your choice and when you made it, and Lhasa OMS may email you offers and news for acupuncture students. Unsubscribe from any email, or untick it in the game's account screen.
Technical information
Like any website, our server sees your IP address when a game connects. We use it only to stop abuse (for example too many sign-in attempts); these counts expire on their own within about a day. Server logs are kept for a short time to fix problems.
Ads
The ads in our games are chosen by Lhasa OMS and served from our own server, not by an advertising network. Nothing about you is used to pick which ad you see. If you tap an ad, it opens the advertiser's website in your browser; that website's own privacy policy applies there.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored encrypted. Sign-in codes are emailed by Amazon's email service, and your sign-in is kept in your iPhone's Keychain.
- Your account (email, nickname, scores, offers choice): until you delete it.
- The record of each ad view and tap: 400 days, then deleted automatically.
- Counts by install code (the days a copy of a game was played, how many times it was opened, which ads it showed): kept while we run the games, to report totals over time. They aren't linked to you.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run the server for us (Amazon Web Services).
- Advertisers: we may show them reports of how their ads did, such as views, taps and how many different phones saw them, by game and by day. These reports never include your email, nickname or account.
- The public: nicknames and scores on leaderboards.
- And where the law requires it.
Your choices
- Play without an account: nothing about you personally is sent to us.
- Delete your account: in any game, open the account screen and choose Delete account. Your email, nickname, scores and offers choice are removed.
- Start a new install code: delete and reinstall the game (your progress on that phone is lost).
- Sign out at any time; your progress on the iPhone stays.
- Questions or requests (a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion without the game): email games@lhasascript.com.
Children
The games are made for acupuncturists and acupuncture students and are not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
